The Benefit of Genuine OEM Parts

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, so these parts are identical to the ones originally used in your specific vehicle's model year and trim level.

This leads to a lot of added perks for you to enjoy, such as the following:

The Perfect Fit
Since the same brand that made your vehicle manufactures the genuine OEM parts that will be used in your next repair, there’s no need to wonder if they will be the proper fit.

Higher Quality
Generally, OEM parts are built with a higher-quality level than third-party parts. Typically, this means they will be able to withstand more extreme and rugged drives.

Longer Lifespan
Since your OEM components can take on more extreme conditions, you can expect them to last longer and not need to replace them as often.

Added Peace of Mind
Many OEM parts come with a warranty. Therefore, you can drive away knowing you'll have added protection on the open road.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Parts Department at Byerly Ford

Do you sell parts directly to customers?

Yes. Our parts counter sells direct to retail customers, DIY mechanics, body shops, and independent service shops. Common maintenance items (filters, brake pads, batteries, wiper blades, spark plugs, fluids) are typically in stock; less common items can be ordered through our parts order page with delivery in 1-3 days for most parts. Walk-in parts purchases are welcome during regular hours.

Motorcraft parts vs aftermarket: what is the difference?

Motorcraft is Ford's OEM parts brand. The fit, function, and warranty match what came on the vehicle from the factory. Aftermarket parts vary widely in quality - some equal Motorcraft, some considerably less. Motorcraft warranty coverage (including labor on most parts when installed by a Ford dealer) often makes them the better pick for repairs even when aftermarket alternatives cost less at purchase. For routine wear items where you are doing the work yourself and warranty coverage matters less, aftermarket can make sense. We sell both and can advise on what fits your situation.

Can I order parts for non-Ford vehicles?

For most makes and models, yes - we can order parts through our distribution network, though selection is broader and pricing more competitive on Ford. For Motorcraft parts on Ford vehicles, we are the most direct source in the Louisville and Southern Indiana area. For non-Ford parts, we are one option among several; check pricing and availability against alternatives if those matter to you. Body shops and independent mechanics frequently use us for Motorcraft parts even when their primary work is on other brands.

Do you stock accessories for F-150, Bronco, and other Fords?

Yes. Common items - bed liners and tonneau covers for F-150 and Super Duty, soft tops and modular tops for Bronco, running boards, mud flaps, floor mats, roof racks, hitches and trailer wiring, all-weather mats, cargo organizers - are stocked or readily available. Less common accessories (off-road items for Bronco and F-150 Raptor, specialty hybrid and EV charging accessories, specific commercial upfit items for Transit) can typically be ordered. Genuine Ford accessories carry warranty coverage when installed by us.

How do I know what part I need?

Have your VIN and current mileage available; that lets us identify the exact factory configuration and what parts fit. For wear items (brake pads, filters, batteries), the vehicle and year are usually enough. For diagnostic-driven parts (sensors, electronic components), describe the symptom and we can usually narrow down what you need before ordering. If you are not sure, the simplest path is to bring the vehicle in for our service team to diagnose; we then know exactly what to order.

Specific Part or Accessory in Mind?

Have a part number, accessory description, or just a symptom? Our parts team can usually identify what you need quickly.

For commercial customers and shops, we set up account billing and offer trade pricing on volume orders.

What the Parts Department at Byerly Ford Stocks and Orders

Common Ford service parts (filters, brake pads, rotors, batteries, spark plugs, sensors, belts, hoses, fluids, wiper blades) are stocked for the vehicles in our service area's typical inventory mix. Common accessories (floor mats, running boards, bed liners, tonneau covers, hitches, trailer wiring) are stocked for the trucks, Broncos, and SUVs that sell heavily here. Less common items (specialty Bronco accessories, less-common-vehicle parts, body parts after collision, specialty performance items) are typically order-only with delivery in 1-3 days through our regional distribution network.

For Louisville, Jeffersontown, Mount Washington, Shepherdsville, and Southern Indiana customers, the parts mix reflects the buyer mix: heavy on F-150 and Super Duty parts and accessories given Louisville's strong truck market, strong stocking on Bronco and Bronco Sport accessories as those models continue to grow, and broader-than-average representation in towing-related items (hitches, trailer wiring, brake controllers) given how many customers tow boats, livestock trailers, recreational equipment, and commercial loads.

  • Common Ford service parts in stock
  • F-150, Super Duty, and Bronco accessories stocked heavily
  • Trailering-related items broadly stocked
  • Commercial parts for fleet and contractor customers

To request specific parts or check stock, use our parts order page. For service work that involves parts (where we install), schedule through the service scheduler.

Working with the Parts Team

For DIY customers, the parts team is set up to help you identify what you need quickly. Bring the VIN, current mileage, and either the part you are replacing (so we can match it directly) or a description of the symptom (so we can narrow down what you actually need). For complex diagnostic parts (sensors, control modules, electronic components), describing the symptom and any diagnostic codes if your scanner read them helps significantly.

For body shops and independent service shops, we set up trade accounts with appropriate pricing and net terms. Volume orders, regular delivery routes, and dedicated parts-counter contacts are available for shops that order regularly. Quick-fill capability for items needed for in-progress repairs is standard practice; if you are working on a vehicle and need a part fast, calling ahead lets us pull it for pickup or arrange same-day delivery in some cases. The Byerly Auto Group Collision Center also pulls parts through us, so we have established workflows for body and paint parts at volume.

  • VIN and mileage speed parts identification
  • Symptom description helps for diagnostic parts
  • Trade accounts available for shops and body shops
  • Quick-fill for in-progress repairs

For complex installations (anything beyond bolt-on items), our service department can install parts purchased through us with the associated warranty coverage. For pure parts purchases without installation, the warranty is parts-only.

Louisville-Region Parts and Accessories

Hot-summer items see heavy demand here. A/C-related parts (compressors, condensers, expansion valves, refrigerant), batteries (the heat-and-humidity cycle is hard on batteries; replacement intervals run shorter than in milder climates), cooling system items (radiators, water pumps, thermostats, hoses), and the various components that get tested by Louisville's summer humidity. Cabin air filters get replaced more often here than in drier climates because of pollen season; allergy sufferers know the difference quickly.

Towing accessories see similarly heavy demand given the truck-heavy market. Hitches in various weight classes, trailer wiring harnesses, brake controllers, weight distribution hitches for fifth-wheel campers and gooseneck setups for livestock trailers are all common items. For Louisville's bourbon distillery commercial customers, equipment haulers, and recreational tow buyers (boats heading to Lake Cumberland, Rough River, or Patoka Lake; campers heading to Mammoth Cave area or Red River Gorge), trailering hardware is an ongoing volume category. The local economy creates parts demand that flatter or non-recreational markets do not see.

  • A/C, cooling, and battery items in heavy demand
  • Cabin air filters during pollen season
  • Trailering hardware including gooseneck and fifth-wheel setups
  • Commercial and recreational trailer parts common

For specific accessory questions or parts inquiries, contact our parts team through the parts order page or general contact page. For installation, schedule through our service tool.

Genuine Motorcraft Parts and Why They Matter

The case for genuine Motorcraft parts comes down to a few specific things. First, fit and function match factory specifications, which means installation is straightforward and operation is correct. Aftermarket parts that are technically compatible sometimes require minor modifications or shimming during installation; sometimes their operating characteristics differ slightly from OEM in ways that show up over time. Second, Motorcraft warranty coverage (including labor when installed by us) often makes them the better financial pick even when aftermarket alternatives cost less at purchase. Third, Ford service bulletins and software updates assume genuine parts; some technical campaigns require Motorcraft parts for proper operation.

The case for aftermarket comes down to specific situations: routine wear items where you are doing the work yourself, vehicles outside warranty where price-only optimization makes sense, and certain specialty applications where aftermarket has equal or better quality at lower cost (off-road accessories on Bronco and F-150 Raptor are a common example - many high-quality aftermarket options exist at competitive pricing). We carry both and can advise on the trade-offs for specific situations.

  • Motorcraft fit and function matches factory specs
  • Motorcraft warranty includes labor when installed by us
  • Required for some Ford technical campaigns
  • Aftermarket appropriate for some DIY and off-road applications
